** We’ve created a new ‘COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions' Section addressing the most common questions we have received since reopening the museum. These FAQ’s can be found here: www.southyorkshireaircraftmuseum.org.uk/post/covid-19-frequently-asked-questions **
We're delighted to be able to welcome you back to the museum from July 14th and wanted to share with you what we are doing to help keep our staff, volunteers and you, our visitors safe. Here are some of the measures we have put in place to make your visit to the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum as safe as possible during these uncertain times.
We have implemented an enhanced cleaning routine across the site, with hand sanitiser
available to all at the entrances to each building. To allow this enhanced cleaning to take place, we will be remaining on our winter opening times of 10:00 to 16:00 (Last entry at 15:00) with additional cleaning of high traffic areas throughout the day. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions, some of our interactive displays will remain closed for the foreseeable future due to the potentially higher risk of transmission that they present.
A 'One-way' system has also been implemented throughout all the museum buildings which is clearly signposted. In the Main Hangar and Building 19, arrows will be painted on the floor. In the other display buildings with carpeted floors, look out for regular direction signposts. We ask all visitors to please follow the arrows around the buildings and to obey the 'social distancing' rules at all times.
The museum shop and cafe remain open, and contactless payments (available up to £45) are actively encouraged in all instances. As our shop and cafe building is quite small and could form a bottleneck, we ask all visitors to not enter the shop until the counter is clear of other visitors. A separate exit route from the shop will be in use.
With the restrictions that are still in place, our usual offerings in the cafe have been suspended, but a limited range of drinks and snacks are being made available in takeaway containers. Our indoor seating area has been closed in line with government guidelines, but additional socially distanced seating has been made available outside. As usual, visitors are welcome to bring a picnic and use the outdoor seating areas provided.
Our toilet facilities will be open as normal, with an increased frequency of cleaning implemented. Please do take care to maintain social distancing and remember to follow the Government's hand washing advice.
We aim to keep the same friendly atmosphere for visitors on which we pride ourselves at SYAM. While social distancing and reduced contact are important to prevent the spread of COVID-19, please don’t be put off from engaging with our staff and volunteers. If you have an enquiry - they are happy to help!
**PLEASE NOTE** - If you, or a member of your household, are displaying symptoms of
COVID-19 or have been contacted by NHS Track and Trace, please stay at home and follow the Government's Self-Isolation advice.
Thank you for taking the time to read through our COVID measures, we look forward to welcoming you to the museum soon!
