Tucano ZF167 completes RAF Finningley Training Display

The South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum are pleased to announce the arrival of our latest acquisition, Shorts Tucano T.1 ZF167.

Arriving over the weekend from the Ulster Aviation Society, ZF167 completes the missing link in our training collection and the museum now houses a complete collection of training aircraft used at RAF Finningley.

Built in early 1989, ZF167 flew with both No. 7 and No. 1 FTS before being retired to storage at RAF Shawbury in 2004. Returned to Shorts (which had subsequently been purchased by Bombardier) in December 2004, the airframe was donated to the Ulster Aviation Society and displayed as a fuselage with them for almost 20 years. ZF167 will be in open storage initially, with plans to rebuild and display the complete aircraft in place after obtaining a small number of missing parts.

We would like to thank the team at the UAS for organising the transportation and safe delivery of ZF167 from Northern Ireland to Doncaster, and congratulate them on the acquisition of Tucano ZF378 ‘Enniskillen’ through the RAF Heritage program.
