Today (Sunday 5th May 2024) saw the formal unveiling of ‘Phase One’ of the Northern Battle of Britain Memorial at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum in a dedication service and reception service.
Featuring a flypast from Spitfire TE311 of the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Official), a March past by local Air Cadets, a dedication by Air Vice Marshall Alan Johnson (ret’d) and service by the Reverend Tom Brown.
The memorial wall features the RAF Fighter Command Ensign alongside the names of all fallen crews of RAF Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain - some 544 brave men who sadly never came home.
