Northern Battle of Britain Memorial to be unveiled at SYAM.

Updated: Apr 18

On Sunday 5th May, the team behind the Northern Battle of Britain Memorial shall be unveiling 'Phase One' of the memorial at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum.

'Phase One' of the memorial sees a representation of a revetment wall adorned with the Battle of Britain Roll of Honour and the 1940 crest of RAF Fighter Command. Also featuring above the memorial will be sculptures of the Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft instrumental in the victory over the skies of southern England. Both sculptures have been created by Doncaster artist Ian Curran.

The event will see the unveiling and dedication of the Memorial Wall, a March past by RAF Air Cadets and a flypast from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft.

The memorial is the culmination of many years of work by the Northern Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, further information on the project can be found on their website and Facebook page via the links below.
